The Department of Insurance and Financial Services is governed by Iowa Code Chapter 546 and Iowa Administrative Rules Section 181. The Department of Insurance and Financial Services administers and coordinates various regulatory, service, and licensing functions of the state relating to the business of insurance, banking and credit unions in the state. The department consists of the following divisions:

Open record requests, policy questions or concerns, and complaints should be made to each individual agency within the department. The insurance commissioner serves as the department director and is appointed by the governor.
